GREETINGS AND SALUTATIONS

GREETINGS PASSENGERS>
I’m Marcelle aka VOOMZ. Most of you reading this probably know me. Hello loverz.
But for those of you who don’t know me, I am a songwriter who has developed a great affinity for synths and making beats. I didn’t know much about these things in the beginning though…It was just me and my guitar. Before that, I got my start in musical theater and piano lessons, and yes, I was a choir nerd.
Now I’m turning into a computer nerd. Or at least I am trying very hard to geek out on it! I’m a little technologically impaired, but I have learned a lot and can’t believe that I finally have a record finished.
My first official release is an LP called ++ELECTRONAUTZ++. I hope you think its electrohot! Yes!
(My friend called it that and I liked the sound of it!! Thanks Gio.)
It all came about after many years of bad demos and stolen money from sketchy producers. I finally landed a deal with an awesome indie label, but it seemed it would be another two years before anything was finished. I had been making rough beats for a while now on ProTools and learned a lot making music with various producers in nice studios, and also from when I worked at the Record Plant watching Cats like Justin Timberlake, Will.i.am, and Kanye West. So I decided to start making records on my own until something else panned out. I had a generic home studio, but I still needed a nice microphone that I could afford. My engineer friend at Record Plant recommended the same mic Michael Jackson sang Thriller on, and I was sold for a mere 350 bucks.
The rest is history. I recorded the album in my little bedroom in Hollywood. If you listen to the birds on track #4 Wonderland, you should know they were inspired by the actual birds you could hear on some of my vocals tracks. It was a hot summer in that little studio. Most of the time I was in my undergarments. You can’t do that at the Record Plant! If the vocals seem breathy and seductive sometimes, well, it might be because I knew my neighbors could hear me and I didn’t want to be too loud! I got scolded one time because it was 2am. Oops.ha
I did have one accomplice. Drummer and beat-maker James McCutchen endured the heat with me to help me mix and improve the recordings. I can’t thank him enough for taking so much time and patience to help me.
I am really excited to finally have something to share with you! This album took a lot of blood, sweat, and tears and had a significant learning curve I had to overcome, but I have really gained a lot of insight from the process. I know there are tons of things that I would like to change and improve upon, but I must keep moving on.
I’ve started the next album, which I would like to release this summer.
In the meantime, I have a marketing campaign in action for ELECTRONAUTZ, although it’s really difficult to get the word out on my own. If you like what you hear or see the potential, please spread the word. I never thought I would be a producer, and I think I still have quite a bit to learn. It just kinda happened by default, so I am still looking for collaborations. And musicians. Live shows are on hold at the moment as we figure out the best way to take the electronic productions to the live stage.
If you have ideas or talents, I want you.
I know this was a long first post, but I feel I’m a little late to jump on the blogwagon. (technologically impaired) So here I am! HELLO FROM THE VOOMIVERSE!
And please keep coming back as I will be keeping you posted on adventures and space travels. In case you haven’t realized, I have a small obsession with the universe and VOOMZ is the sound of my spaceship wizzing through the galaxies.
Making ++ELECTRONAUTZ++ was such an experience to create. I really hope you enjoy it.
I’ll be back soon.
Beam me up.
V.
