They are flying me to New York.

………….
I’m not one for contests, but I figured this one seemed a little cooler than American Idol. :-) I had planned on submitting myself online, but probably shouldn’t have waited until the deadline date of December 15th to go online to actually do it. I read the official rules of how to submit cause I didn’t want to forget anything, but to my dismay, you had to send a package through the regular mail….AND IT HAD TO ARRIVE BY DECEMBER 15th…. AND THIS DAY WAS DECEMBER 15th. I thought I had totally blown it.
I still decided to get my package together though and sent it in along with a lil’ letter explaining why it may be a few days late. They only wanted a few songs, but I went ahead and also threw in Electronautz cause I was feeling like I was going to be disqualified anyway.
Time went by and I was pretty sure the winners had been chosen, so I was quite surprised when I received a phone call congratulating me on being 1 of 30 semi-finalists chosen to compete for the final rounds.
The Finals would be held in New York, Miami, and Los Angeles. Since I am local, I was told the Los Angeles finals were on Saturday, March 7th. I was thrilled, until I realized this was the ONE weekend I would not be in Los Angeles. Would I cancel my plans? Of course, but it would have lost me quite a bit of money. And this is a recession!
Fortunately, the dude who called me was cool and suggested that the producers might be down to fly me to New York for the finals on Tuesday, March 3rd. He said he would find out and get right back to me! He called the next day to say it was cool for me to compete in New York, and they were going to fly me there. Aaaaaaahhhhhhh.
I was so excited. Especially cause one of my bestest friends in the world, DJ Mia Moretti lives out there and I haven’t seen in her in forevaaaaa.
The other good news is that I have been seriously thinking of relocating to New York tempoarily for some musical ventures. I know I haven’t mentioned it yet, but the details are coming! If it weren’t for these other plans, which by the way is a family cruise, I would just go for the contest and stay out there. But a booze cruise with Grandma Ruthie is worth coming back for! I will probably return to New York soon after the cruise though.
They say the neon lights are bright on Broadway……….
